Dear Parents/Guardians:
We thank you for the opportunity to transport your children to and from school. We take pride in our district and want to provide a safe ride for all of our students. Please read below and return the attached registration form as soon as possible. Every Student Must Turn In a Bus Registration Form.
The Transportation Department especially needs the support of our parents to explain the importance of the bus regulations. We ask you to go over the Bus Rules with your children. It is important for everyone involved to understand we are committed to providing every student a safe, enjoyable ride to/from school. Without your help from home, this would not be possible. Remember, our Taylor County School Board has adopted a plan that will result in loss of bus privileges for repeated violations of Bus Safety Rules. ONE student whose actions are distracting to their bus driver can endanger the safety of all students. Reviewing these rules with your children will prevent problems in the future. Parents, please refrain from trying to board a school bus for any reason. Our Drivers/Staff can be reached at 838-2505 for any situation needing addressed.
Bus Conduct
*To maintain safety, No Person Shall Board a School Bus “Except Students Registered To That Bus”.
*A school bus is an extension of school, therefore students must conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the established Code of Student Conduct. You can expect to receive a bus referral for behavior that distracts the driver, disrupts order or endangers the health & safety of others.
*Students are expected to obey their driver at all times
*Students are expected to ride in their assigned seats, designated by their driver.
*Students are not to eat or drink on school bus.
*Students should be totally quiet at all RR Crossings.
*Students are responsible for any personal items brought onto bus (electronics, cell phones, laptop, band equipment, etc)
*Students will be held responsible for any VANDALISM caught on camera & will receive proper punishment along with REPAIR COST billed to parents/guardians.
*Students should be at their designated bus stop 5 minutes prior to scheduled pick-up time, bus will not wait beyond scheduled pick-up time. (Be out of vehicle, ready to board when door opens)
*Students should stand off roadway & exhibit proper behavior while at bus stop. (Parents are responsible for students at bus stop prior to loading & after unloading from school bus)
*No body parts are permitted outside bus windows, nor should student throw objects out windows.
*No large items permitted on school bus, including but not limited to boxes, cages, glass, school projects, animals, skateboards, large band instruments and offensive materials. Absolutely No Weapons Permitted.
*Students who need to ride a bus they are not registered on will need a note from their school with student name, destination address & working phone number to person receiving student.
Keep in mind cameras are in use on our buses, for the safety of everyone. We randomly view them for quality assurance & training purposes. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our department (850) 838-2505. We look forward to a safe 2019-20 school year in Taylor County!
Respectfully,
Wendy Slaughter, Transportation Coordinator
